Mission Statement

The mission of the Yurok Tribal Environmental Program is to protect and restore Tribal natural resources and community health through the exercise of sovereign rights, culturally integrated methods and high quality scientific practices in coordination with the community, Tribal departments, Tribal Council and other agencies.

Major Projects

Monitor and assess the conditions and trends of surface water, groundwaters and coastal water of the Reservation and area draining on to the Reservation. Establish and enforce water quality standards. Support restoration activities with Tribal Fisheries and Watershed departments. Review and issue 401 Water Quality Permits and Wild and Scenic River Act Determinations for waters within the Yurok Indian Reservation.
